Así protestaron este jueves tras la extradición de Pérez Becerra

29 de abril de 2011.- Cientos de personas protestaron este jueves en la Cancillería y la Asamblea Nacional venezolanas, en rechazo a la extradición de Joaquín Pérez Becerra, periodista nacido en Colombia quien dirigía la Agencia de Noticias Nueva Colombia (ANNCOL), y que fue capturado y extraditado en Venezuela a solicitud del presidente neogranadino Juan Manuel Santos, que lo acusa de ser miembro de las FARC.

El Partido Comunista de Venezuela y decenas de movimientos sociales, asociaciones de trabajadores, estudiantes, artistas y personas que apoyan el proceso revolucionario se concentraron en el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores pidiendo una explicación formal ante la entrega de Pérez Becerra, realizada el pasado 25 de abril. Becerra niega ser de las FARC y argumenta ser periodista; de hecho, ANNCOL era citada con frecuencia por Telesur, VTV, AVN y otros medios del Estado por ser una fuente de información alternativa sobre el conflicto colombiano y los hechos que se suceden en ese país. Desde su captura, el gobierno venezolano no se ha pronunciado formalmente por la entrega, que grupos leales al Presidente Chávez argumentan que es un error muy lamentable.

La manifestación fue plenada con pancartas con lemas como “una verdadera revolución no entrega revolucionarios”, "Joaquín es un falso positivo", “una revolución no traiciona”, “no a la extradición”, "basta de Entregas", “Presidente Chávez: la violación a los derechos humanos no es socialismo” y "a Joaquín lo entregaron como a Cristo, al Terrorismo de Estado".

En sus pancartas, las y los manifestantes culpaban al canciller venezolano Nicolás Maduro por la entrega de Pérez Becerra, y al ministro de Comunicación Andrés Izarra, por una presunta censura del tema en medios del Estado, denunciada por diferentes trabajadores.

VTV, el principal canal de televisión del Estado, ha silenciado el tema y ni siquiera informó de la extradición, ocurrida el pasado lunes. Sin embargo, la emisora oficial Radio Nacional de Venezuela (RNV) y el canal estatal Vive TV estuvieron presentes dando cobertura en la marcha de este jueves. Esto no evitó que los manifestantes quemaran un muñeco con la cara de ambos ministros, aludiendo a la "quema de Judas", tradición venezolana propia de Semana Santa. Sin embargo, los entretelones de la entrega permanecen hasta el momento en secreto, y nadie puede afirmar con seguridad quienes tienen la responsabilidad por las decisiones tomadas o si los ministros de verdad son responsables.

Hacia la Asamblea Nacional

Tras permanecer dos horas frente a la sede del Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, los manifestantes leyeron un comunicado firmado por unas treinta organizaciones, en el cual rechazaban la extradición, criticaban su prontitud y diversas irregularidad que ocurrieron; pedían explicaciones al gobierno bolivariano sobre la misma; y exigían al ministro de Comunicación e Información que se disculpara por el bloqueo informativo que, según afirman, existe en algunos medios del Estado. También piden a la Cancillería afrontar la discusión de lo ocurrido con la extradición.

Posteriormente, los manifestantes se desplazaron a pie frente a la Casa Amarilla, edificio histórico también perteneciente a la Cancillería, y luego acudieron a la Asamblea Nacional.

Allí protestaron solicitando la presencia de Fernando Soto Rojas, presidente del Parlamento quien fuera guerrillero en su juventud.

El canal de derecha Globovisión intentó acercarse al lugar para reseñar lo ocurrido, pero fue rápidamente rechazado y sus periodistas sacados a empujones por los manifestantes, quienes estaban en contra de que su protesta pudiera ser tergiversada por este medio.

El que pasara más de una hora sin que ningún parlamentario saliera a recibirlos causó que un grupo importante de los presentes se impacientaran. A punta de empujones pasaron la primera puerta y empujaron la segunda para tratar de ingresar al Palacio Federal Legislativo. La Guardia Nacional Bolivariana los dispersó momentáneamente con una bomba lacrimógena, tras lo cual las fuerzas revolucionarias se reagruparon y la GNB hizo las gestiones solicitadas.

Luego, el diputado del PCV Óscar Figuera salió y conversó con las y los manifestantes, expresando que esta movilización “es expresión de soberanía y no debe ser reprimida”. A pesar de la intermediación de varios diputados para que la directiva de la AN diera respuesta a las exigencias de la manifestación, se conoció que “por la apretada agenda de discusión la directiva no podía salir a recibirlos”, señaló el diputado Figuera, en base a la respuesta que diera Soto Rojas. Tras esto, los manifestantes se retiraron paulatinamente.

El debate continúa

Pérez Becerra, quien escapó de la masacre que exterminó a integrantes de la Unión Patriótica en Colombia en los años ochenta, obtuvo refugio en Suecia y finalmente obtuvo la nacionalidad en ese país, renunciando a la colombiana. El gobierno sueco protestó ante el gobierno venezolano la entrega de Pérez Becerra a Colombia, hecha sin que se le notificara.

Dado su apoyo al proceso revolucionario, Pérez Becerra viajaba con frecuencia a Venezuela, según informó el martes Hugo Martínez, uno de los abogados que interpuso un recurso de amparo en defensa del periodista. Perez Becerrá viajó a Caracas en 2009, para participar en la fundación del Movimiento Continental Bolivariano, y luego en diciembre de 2010 para la fundación de la Asociación Bolivariana de Comunicadores.
